Position Summary

Appen has an opportunity for an experienced Investor Relations professional to join a dynamic, global team. The role reports to the CFO and works closely with the CEO, Board or Directors,the Executive Team, VP of Corporate Development and the company’s advisors.


The role includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an effective IR Strategy in consultation with the executive team and the Board
  • Proactively reach out to and brief target investors
  • Respond to inbound investor queries
  • Define and attend the ideal conferences that are aligned with the investor relations strategy
  • Support the CEO, CFO, VP of Corporate Development and/or conduct meetings during roadshows and other investor relations activities
  • Maintain a register of common investor questions and responses to provide input to the company’s growth strategy and/or to tune investor messaging
  • Manage the company’s market disclosures, including the preparation of press releases, results updates, presentations and the annual report
  • Manage all aspect of the company's ESG reporting, including the relationship with proxy advisors and shareholder groups regarding executive remuneration and other ESG issues
  • Provide input on the ideal capital structures that support the company’s growth strategy
  • Monitor and maintain a record of investor and media coverage and remain ahead of any issues
  • Assist the CEO with investor relations media
  • Prepare regular reports for the Board

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in investor relations and/or sell-side analysis
  • Experience as a sell-side analyst is highly beneficial for effective communications with the analyst community
  • Previous corporate investor relations experience would be highly regarded for the role
  • A strong financial background would be highly regarded for the role
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • An understanding of and experience in technology would be very valuable
  • Relationships with the local and international investment community and financial press would be valuable
  • A relevant degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or Accounting is required, and any post graduate degree (such as MBA/ CFA / CA / AIRA Diploma) will be looked upon favourably
