Exam Content:

All questions have been derived from the reference materials and presentations distributed to students throughout the Diploma course.
While questions for each online exam will be selected randomly and may appear in any order, the four general question categories are as follows:

  1. Capital markets, Investors, Valuations
  2. Law
  3. Investor Relations
  4. Case Studies

Pass Mark:

70% (Candidates will be notified immediately on completing the exam of their result.)


$368.50 (incl GST, includes one re-sit, should it be required)

Exam Eligibility Criteria:

Only students who have completed the full 3-day Diploma of Investor Relations course are eligible to sit this examination.

Students have 12 months from the date they attend the course to sit the online exam.
Outside of that time, students are required to undertake the full 3-day course again at their own cost.


On being awarded the AIRA Diploma of Investor Relations, a candidate is able to use the post-nominals DipInvRel.

Exam Dates:

Please note that a supervisor is compulsory when sitting the exam. If your nominated supervisor is no longer available, you must reschedule the exam to an date when you can be supervised. Candidates are welcome to come into the AIRA office to be supervised, please contact the AIRA Secretariat on administration@aira.org.au to arrange.

When enrolling, a candidate must nominate a date on which to sit the exam.
The online exam can be completed at any time between 9am and 5pm on the selected date.


Exam dates set for 2020 are as follows:

  • Wednesday, 29 January 2020 (enrolments required no later than 15 January 2020)
  • Friday, 21 February 2020 (enrolments required no later than 7 February 2020)
  • Friday, 20 March 2020 (enrolments required no later than 6 March 2020)
  • Thursday, 9 April 2020 (enrolments required no later than 30 March 2020)
  • Thursday, 14 May 2020 (enrolments required no later than 30 April 2020)
  • Monday, 15 June 2020 (enrolments required no later than 1 June 2020)
  • Tuesday, 14 July 2020 (enrolments required no later than 1 July 2020)
  • Wednesday, 19 August 2020 (enrolments required no later than 5 August 2020)
  • Wednesday, 23 September 2020 (enrolments required no later than 9 September 2020)
  • Wednesday, 28 October 2020 (enrolments required no later than 14 October 2020)
  • Friday, 13 November 2020 (enrolments required no later than 2 November 2020)
  • Monday, 7 December 2020 (enrolments required no later than 28 November 2020)



Exam re-sit:

In the case where a candidate does not achieve the 70% pass mark, there is one exam re-sit allowed.
Candidates who are eligible to re-sit the exam will be invited to do so once a date has been set.

Where to sit the exam:

Candidates are able to choose a location of their choice to sit the online exam. The only pre-requisites are as follows:

  • The computer must have both JavaScript and Java enabled on the browser; and
  • A nominated supervisor must be approved by AIRA. (To see the eligibility criteria and the role of the supervisor, please refer to the "Appointment of Supervisor" section on page 2 of the Enrolment Form.)
The process to follow:

Complete the Enrolment Form and return it to the AIRA Secretariat by email to administration@aira.org.au
Enrolments MUST BE RECEIVED at least ten days prior to the assessment date.

Once your enrolment has been received, payment will be processed and an email sent confirming the enrolment.

One week prior to the assessment date, AIRA will distribute a "Supervisor's Kit" to all approved supervisors. This kit contains information about:

  • how to access the exam;
  • the role of the supervisor;
  • the terms and conditions in which the exam must be conducted; and
  • materials that candidates are permitted to have access to while completing the exam.

Should a nominated supervisor not meet the criteria as set out on page 2 of the Enrolment Form, the candidate will be requested to nominate an alternate.
